I'm so grateful for this article, I LOVE IT! I've been in the process of weaning my 22 month old son and it doesn't feel very good. Though I continue to nurse him in the morning and evenings, I talk to him about the milk is going to be going away. As I write this I feel very guilty cause I really don't wanna wean him. I'd like him to self-wean. The problem is I'm terribly tired and he's so tall that I feel embarrassed. Also, the pressure out there is so strong, "when are you gonna stop?" "if he can ask for it he's too old," and so on and so on. I read an article the other day that talked about when a breastfed child starts getting extra clingy during the weaning process, then the child is being pre-maturely weaned. Well that did it. I've stopped weaning and will give another change at self-weaning.

Yes, yes, yes to extended breastfeeding! Ameerah is 30 months old, and I am still very proudly breastfeeding her. She will wean when she is ready to do so. For those people who do not like, agree with, or approve of me still breastfeeding my child that I brought into this world, I say to them DO NOT LOOK! Breasts are made to nurture, enrich, and feed children! Yes, yes, yes to extended breastfeeding!
